War II Veteran Interviews
Fremont Gruss is the historian for American Legion Post 259 in Excelsior,
Minnesota. He and a group of Veterans attended the dedication of Minnesota's
World War II Memorial in Saint Paul on June 9, 2008.
After attending the day's activities and after meeting so many veterans
who were ailing in health, Fremont decided to head up a plan to get
as many of the Veterans' stories recorded as possible before they passed
away. He was able to arrange for twenty-seven veterans to have their
stories videotaped. These interviews have been made into a seven-volume
set.
Fremont has arranged for the proceeds from the sale of the videos
to go to the Minnesota
Military Family Fund, an organization that helps family members
of deployed soldiers with financial assistance.
